An Äager Brand ERGIL added another success to its projects; North Oil Company (NOC-Iraq), which is a subsidiary of the Iraqi Petroleum Ministry, by supplying 2 pieces of 10,000 m³ capacity, non-fixed, external floating roof, crude oil tanks. ERGIL is well reputed company with its design and engineering successes through the manufacturing factory which are equipped with the latest technology equipment such as automatic welding, steel, CNC plasma cutting, sandblasting and painting machines, has successfully designed the crude oil tanks it with the design code of API 650 in a short period of 6 months.  SA 283 Gr.C. quality of these materials are prefabricated tanks; painting, twisting, welding and sandblasting operations were carried out in our factory and the installation and tests were carried out successfully in the field environment under the leadership of our experienced field supervision team. In the completion of these tanks, floating roofs are produced under our Storagetech brand; API 650 - mechanical seal for external floating roof, designed and manufactured in accordance with Annex C, foam thrower with 16 fire-fighting equipment, 4-inch roof drainage system, inner cathodic protection for increasing corrosion resistance at the bottom of tanks, foam ring piping system , water cooling system and 8-inch full radar measurement system within EN 10204-1 3.1 certification. This showed a versatile example of supply. External Floating Roof’s optimal thickness material is a selection of cost-effective solution. At this point, our Technical and Engineering Manager Mr Tunç Tureli states that: ‘In such projects, the basics of tank calculations are determined according to the ambient design conditions. The most important point in this environment is the accurate calculation of earthquake and wind effects.’ In particular, the external floating roof is exposed to very different loads due to direct contact with the wind. In order to ensure the balance in the system and to avoid damage of materials when such a situation occurs from the beginning. Design must be calculated from the first stage. These problems can lead to a chain reaction. First, the roof, then the seal, depending on them, and finally, the loss of the tank may be on the agenda. Because the product has a large mass, pressure and force will be high in such cases. Another issue to be considered in the production of these grains is the turbulence and fluctuation during the earthquake and buckling during the wind. The safety of measuring instruments and connection pipes in the system is directly proportional to the correct design. Calculations should be correct as well as the correct selection of materials. As ERGIL, we produce our tanks and related equipment according to the standards of international auditing organizations. The average 100 tons weight of the external floating roof is positioned in an optimal manner. In this context, all code calculations are carried out by ERGIL's self-tested software. Storagetech Guideline for Your Right Choice of Storage Tank Safety

Istanbul, Nov 19, 2019 - Detonation and Deflagration Arrestors, although similar in construction, serve two very distinct purposes. Here we answer some of the most common questions asked about these Storage Tank Safety tools. A flame arrestor is a safety device that is used on the pipeline or end of the line to block potential fire or explosion passages through the line. There are mainly two types of flame arresters: Detonation and deflagration. Detonation flame arrestors are designed to overcome sudden explosion impacts in the pipeline, whereas deflagration flame arrestors block fire flames in a particular location to stop them from traveling in the pipeline freely. The Storagetech technical team is experienced in choosing which type of flame arrestor is required for a particular application. Even though there are many factors to consider; location, products stored and pipeline/piping design play important roles. Facts about Deflagration Arrestors: 1. Stop the propagation of a flammable mixture. 2. Act as a fire barrier preventing passage of a flame and dissipating the heat of the flame below the auto-ignition temperature of the combustible vapor emitted by the flammable liquid. 3. Categorized as two different types: In-line and End of-line. 4. Designed to be used as a barrier between the tank and the vent in order to safeguard the tank’s contents from ignition inside a tank. 5. Prevent flame flashback for 30 minutes of continuous burning. Facts about Detonation Arrestors: Provide a screen of protection between two areas in a pipeline. 1.Protect one tank or one area of a pipeline from a detonation or explosion from another tank or area of pipeline. 2.Quench a detonation or deflagration traveling down the pipeline. 3.Stop detonation from spreading to other areas attached to the same pipeline. 4.Designed to withstand higher pressures than the flame arrestor and quench detonations. 5.Can be utilized in any piping configuration. 6.Prevent flame flashback for 120 minutes of continuous burning. Choosing the Right Flame Arrester: Selection Considerations and Criteria Deciding when to use a deflagration and when a detonation arrester can be confusing. Therefore it is important to first answer these questions:   1. Where is the ignition source? Turbulent flow enhances the mixing of the combustible gases, greatly increasing the combustion intensity. This can result in increased flame speeds, higher flame pressures and higher flame temperatures than those found in laminar flow conditions. Such piping configurations must be taken into consideration when selecting an arrester. If flashback should occur, the flame arrester could fail before the system or personnel have time to react. 2. What needs to be protected? Using the flame arrestor as a means of protection with a vacuum inside the storage area might at first glance appear inapplicable for the case when a vacuum valve of the conservation vent opened. However, the usual flame exposure to a storage tank conservation vent involves an external fire. The heat transferred from such a fire would warm the gas space inside the tank and cause the gas to expand. Thus, at times of fire exposure to a conservation vent, the gas flow through the conservation vent would be expected to be outward to the atmosphere. Flame propagation backward through the conservation vent is thereby prevented. 3. Are there any flow restrictions on the protected side of the arrestor? During low and medium level deflagrations, pressure waves, traveling much faster than the flame front, travel through the arrester and are reflected by a restriction such as a partially closed valve. The reflected wave can cause significant pressurization within the flame arrester element channels which can enhance conditions for flame transmission. Furthermore, following conditions must be thoroughly evaluated prior to selecting the correct deflagration or detonation arrester: Gas/Vapor Composition As part of the selection process, a classification must be identified for the product passing through the arrester. Maximum explosion pressure, minimum ignition temperature and the maximum experimental safe gap (MESG) are all used to formulate an EN Explosion group rating. Flame & Detonation Velocities/Pressures The characteristics of a flame front as it encounters an arrester is affected by numerous factors. In addition to initial pressure, temperature and vapor composition, the pipeline plays a critical role. The distance between an ignition source and an arrester often termed as the “Run Up” distance, has a dramatic effect on the flame speed and pressure seen by the arrester. Flame speed tends to increase as it travels down a confined piping run. This is a result of unburnt gas ahead of the flame front being preheated and compressed by the escaping combustion products. Turbulence provides a mechanism for acceleration of the flame front. Irregularities in the piping configuration (obstructions, bends, etc.) tend to increase the turbulence in the unburned gases, resulting in higher flame speeds. Pressure Drops The pressure drop associated with an arresting device must be known in order to ensure it is properly sized for a given application. Minimizing the pressure drop across the flame arrestor is in part accomplished by increasing the overall bank diameter to provide increased free area and by increasing the length of the flame arrestor element which allows a larger hydraulic diameter of the element passageways to be used. What is an In-line Flame Arrestor? Sometimes it is desirable to install flame arrestors in the middle of a long pipeline. They are particularly suited for installation inside a tank house where vent pipes or lines are extended through the tank house roof or walls to the outside. Locating the unit inside eliminates difficult inspections on the storage tank roof and protects the vent from freezing of condensate. Combustion in a pipeline can readily make the transition from deflagration to detonation; in the case of some designs a detonation can be stopped, whereas a deflagration may pass through. Therefore, an in-line flame arrester must withstand and stop both types of combustion from both downstream and upstream in a pipeline. Since the pressure developed in the combustion can be high, the in-line arrester and pipeline must be properly designed,constructed and tested. The flame arrester element itself must be capable of withstanding substantial pressure differentials in both directions as a result of the combustion. Negative pressure directly contravenes Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) legislation due to the risk of contamination”, says Husain Ali, product manager at ERGIL  An Äager Brand, ERGIL is a global specialist in designing, engineering and manufacturing surge vessels with an extensive experience. ERGIL manufactures two types of surge vessei which are categorized as Bladder type and Compressor type  for the water pipeline, desalination plants, crude oil pipelines and other applications. ERGIL provides surge vessels in horizontal and vertical types are available and orifice plates, butterfly valves, level instruments, pipeline etc. are provided as required. ERGIL Bladder Surge Vessel ( also called hammer tank, hydro-pneumatic surge control vessel or expansion tank ) is designed to control the surge with a butyl rubber inside the vessel. In order to provide required elasticity to push the water into the system following a pump trip, calculation of pre-charge pressure will be vital. If there is no contact between the compressed air and the water, there will be no dissolution. In this way, there will be no need for a permanent regulation system including compressors, etc. When the vessel has been stimulated and correct the pre-charge has been introduced, the vessel will operate automatically, depressurizing once called upon and refilling with the return waves until naturally reaching its steady-state balance. The internal bladder is often made from high tensile rubber with or without reinforcements, in Neoprene, Nitrile (Buna-N), Food Grade Butyl or Hypalon Rubbers, or expanded to fit the whole vessel. The bladders are complying with a flange at the top as per client’s vessel details. What is the purpose of the project? One of the biggest contractor in Jordan who has successfully executed in the last six decades several projects of varied and complex disciplines throughout the whole country of Jordan. DNV (Det Norske Veritas) GL is a global quality assurance and risk management company, operating in more than 100 countries, that provides classification, technical assurance, software and independent expert advisory services to the maritime, oil & gas, power and renewables industries. The company also provides certification, supply chain and data management services to customers across a wide range of industries. DNV type compatibility has been implemented as of 1 January 1999 within the scope of European Directive 96/98 EC for Marine equipment. Henceforth, devices to be used in the maritime sector must be certified under this directive. Äager GmbH Brand ERGIL is proud to announce that it got approved for welding in accordance with DNV-GL class programme DNVGL-CP-0352 - Approval of Manufacturers - Manufacture of welded products - welding workshop. Our Quality Control Engineer Aykut Pektas explains how Ergil achieved DNV certification: “According to DNV-GL standards, welding operations and the welding workshop environment should hold a certain standard. As we were already producing in accordance with the very high ASME standards and are employing highly qualified engineers and technicians who hold special welding certifications, we were confident we would successfully pass the DNV-GL inspection process. We had setup a special area for periodical maintenance of the welding machines and the stocking of the electrodes used in welding under appropriate conditions (air temperature, humidity environment, storage time). The conditions in this area are controlled 24/7.” Our Project Coordinator Yusuf Veysel Selimoğlu emphasizes the necessity of DNV certification: “According to the International Marine Organization (IMO), vessels in international travelling are subject to inspection. One of the certificates approved by IMO is DNV-GL certificate. For example, in the production of storage tanks to be installed on the ship, the manufacturer must have the certification of accredited organizations such as DNV-GL. Otherwise, the vessel in question cannot leave the shipyard or port in any way. Istanbul, Dec 11, 2019 - Äager GmbH Brand ERGIL Proudly Contributed to the Expansion of the Transit Gas Pipeline Network of “TurkStream” on the Turkish - Bulgarian Border. TurkStream Project Overview TurkStream directly connects the large gas reserves in Russia to the Turkish gas transportation network, to provide reliable energy supplies for Turkey, south and southeast Europe.  The offshore component of the system consists of two parallel pipelines running through the Black Sea. The pipelines enter the water near Anapa, on the Russian coast, and come ashore on the Turkish coast in the Thrace region, near the town of Kiyikoy. From the receiving terminal in Kiyikoy, one of the two underground onshore pipelines will connect to the existing Turkish gas network at Luleburgaz. The other pipeline will continue to the Turkish-European border, where it ends. TurkStream will be the key solution for the energy supply security of Turkey and Europe by providing a direct connection to Russian gas reserves, to transport up to 31.5 billion cubic metres of gas to the region each year. Russia intends to divert exports from the existing Trans-Balkan line which links Ukraine to Turkey and Greece via Moldova, Romania and Bulgaria to the TurkStream corridor. The latter is made up of two lines of 15.75 billion cubic metres/year each. TurkStream 1 is designed to feed the Turkish market, while TurkStream 2 will transit gas to Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary as well as to Greece. The expansion of the existing transmission system and the realisation of the Balkan Gas Hub concept aim to conserve the role of the Republic of Bulgaria as a leading gas trading and distribution hub in the region and the EU. The project for expansion of the gas transmission system, Balkan Stream, is a priority for the Bulgarian government and aims to improve security of supplies of gas from different sources and to enhance competition and transparency of the gas market; in turn, this is hoped to have a positive effect for natural gas consumers. ERGIL’s Key Role in the Project The 474 kilometer (295 mi) cross-border route is designed to become a part of the second leg of the TurkStream -informally known as Balkan Stream- gas pipeline that will handle 15.75 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas per year transiting from Turkey to Serbia through Bulgaria. Two compressor stations and an 11.5 km gas pipeline from the Bulgarian-Turkish border to the Strandzha compressor station is a part of second leg of TurkStream.  Bulgaria has an operating gas transporting system that can link the country with TurkStream in Turkey and the national gas grid of Serbia. The forecast of investment costs is about € 1.4 billion TurkStream is a 910 kilometer (566 mi) long twin gas pipeline that has an estimated throughput capacity of 15.75 bcm of gas per year for each of the two lines. The first string is designed only for Turkish consumers and is expected to start operating by the end of this year, while the second string is intended for southern and southeastern Europe. ERGIL is proud to be part of the second leg of TurkStream, which is planned to deliver natural gas to Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary. Ergil has manufactured the Pig Trap (48’’x52’’ Pig Receiver) with Quick Opening Closure that has been used in the gas pipeline extension from the Turkish border to the Strandzha gas compressor station and connection node to the transit gas pipe lines TG1 & TG2. The Pig Trap was manufactured according to ASME design code B31.8 Sec.VIII Div.1. It was welded by certified welders in ERGIL’s workshop. All materials which were used for the Pig Trap have certificates as per international standards. Furthermore, one of the biggest QOC (in diameter) possible in the gas piping industry was manufactured by ERGIL’s CNC machines for this Pig Trap. The QOC has its own reduction gearbox which is a must for easy opening and closing. 100% radiographic tests were performed for all welding joints and PWHT (Post Weld Heat Treatment) was applied to both Pig Receiver and QOC. Hydrotests were successfully completed at 112,5 bar pressure.
